Getting the road between Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach open has turned into a daunting process.
The road to Opal Beach was opened on May 9. At the ribbon cutting ceremony, Jerry Eubanks, superintendent of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and Tommy Speights of the Florida Department of Transportation assured those gathered for the official ceremony that the road would be completed all the way through to Pensacola Beach by the fall.
But Mother Nature intervened, in more ways than one.
