Commission to set term limits for TDC members

Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners will decide Thursday whether to impose term limits on members of the Tourist Development Council.

Commissioner Jim Melvin, who also serves on the TDC board, suggesting setting term limits similar to other county TDCs. Board members would serve one four-year term on, and four years off, following a re-appointment.

"This would be a very healthy thing to do bring new blood to the organization," he said, adding that having the same board members year after year discouraged others from participating.

Commission Chairman Lane Lynchard asked if the TDC had taken a position on setting term limits.

Melvin said the board had not taken a position and had not made any significant changes to the organization since it was established.
