Rubber ducky, you're the one

A crowd gathered at Juana's on Sept. 17 to watch the Navarre Krewe of Jesters' annual Rubber Ducky race.

"We sold about 600 ducks for the fundraiser," Krewe president, Wayne Hall, said. "It was a lot of hard work by quite a few Krewe members."

Contributors 'rented' a duck for five dollars. Each duck was numbered and matched to a contributor.

At 3 p.m. three large containers of ducks were dumped in the sound by the Krewe. Members of the Krewe swam behind the ducks. They splashed behind the ducks and herded them towards a narrow opening about 50 feet away.
