Beach fire department amends bylaws

The Navarre Beach Volunteer Fire Department finally amended its bylaws in July after operating under the original bylaws for about 20 years, but firefighters say the update didn't bring about positive change.

NBVFD firefighter Shaun Hall, president of the International Association of Firefighters Local Union No. 4494, said the amended bylaws seemed to benefit the board of directors more so than the actual department as a whole.

"It hasn't changed anything for the better in my opinion," he said. He would have liked to have seen more changes to the board elections process and term limits set for all board officers.
