Santa Rosa County accepted a $191,000 settlement from BP for revenue losses caused by the 2010 Deep Horizon oil spill.
During an Aug. 22 meeting, County Administrator Hunter Walker said County Attorney Angela Jones had been working on the claims process. BP offered $191,000 to make up for lost tourist development tax and water and sewer revenues through September 2010.
“We’ve been haggling some if you will over the tourist development taxes and the water and sewer revenue with Navarre Beach,” he said. “You see they have not included the half cent sales tax yet. That’ll be aggregated to the state and then we will receive our portion of that.”
