Disappearing boat motors not uncommon

There has been an increase in outboard boat motor thefts in Santa Rosa County.

Sgt. Scott Haines, public information officer of Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, said this is common during the warmer months.

“It’s not like we haven’t had this before, when the economy is bad, theft will go up in everything. During the warmer months when boats are going out, it is not uncommon for thefts to go up with these too,” said Haines.
