There may not be a water slide drifting in the waters of the Navarre Sound just yet, but beach-goers can look forward to sliding down a land-based attraction in the upcoming week.
Kim Carraway, owner of the land-based slide, was given approval by the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners during their June 9 regular meeting to begin operations.
The location Carraway hopes to use can have water and power made available. Her preferred location is north of the dunes to the east of the pier, between the pier and the pavilions on Navarre Beach Park.
“We want to keep it local. If money is made here, money should be spent here and Navarre doesn’t have anything for kids to do,” Carraway said during the commissioners’ June 6 meeting. “We’re trying to establish a business that would benefit our family and our community and bring something fun to our area.”
