Residents and visitors alike stampede Navarre Beach

Navarre’s only evening run saw more than 600 participants and several hundred spectators in the 2011 Sunset Stampede 5K Run/Walk and Kids Run on May 7.

The third annual event featured 100-125 entries in the kids run and another 500 participants in the 5K run/walk. Last year, the run hosted approximately 250 runners and was Navarre Beach’s largest race, according to Mandy Evers, event organizer. All in all, runners from 16 different states and dozens upon dozens of communities near and far, enjoyed the Saturday sunset.

Evers, of Navarre, said her goal was to bring people together to have fun through the avenue of a unique road race.
