Beach residents to get break on fire protection fees

Navarre Beach residents will pay less for fire protection next year.
The Navarre Beach Volunteer Fire Department Inc. Board of Directors voted last week to lower annual fees 12.5 percent, from $400 to $350 annually.
“We’ve been fortunate enough to establish a contingency fund, and we don’t have any debt service,” treasurer Ken Rudzki said at the board’s meeting March 9. “My crystal-ball guess is, for the next several years, we should be able to keep our rates lower.”
