Dozens braved the sweltering summer sun May 28 to witness history – the official start of construction on the new Navarre Beach Pier.
Onlookers watched as construction workers set the pier’s pile cap No. 2.
“I think this is the best thing for this area during this time,” said Brad Riley, a Navarre resident. “We’ve needed a pier back in this community for a long time. It gives a lot of recreation opportunities for this community.”
