It's going to take more than a patch job to repair the west end of Navarre Beach, an expert told the Santa Rosa County Commission on Feb. 23.

"What many people do not remember is that Hurricane Gustav was a category three for most of the time it was in the Gulf of Mexico,"  said Cliff Truitt, director of engineering for Coastal Technology Corp.  "Hurricane Ike hit a couple of weeks later and had significant storm surge. Because they occurred so close together, the beach did not have time to naturally recover."
