Midway academy provides state-certified training

Firefighter hopefuls in the past often spent months or years waiting for a training slot to become available at one of the area’s two fire academies. The Midway Fire District decided to change all that.
“We already had the facilities,” said program director Lt. Lou Jones with Midway Fire Department. “We followed the state guidelines and became certified to become an academy.”
