The military generates roughly $1 billion of economic activity in Santa Rosa County each year. In return, the county makes protecting the military’s mission a high priority.
But protecting taxpayers’ money is also a high priority, Commissioner Jim Williamson of Pace said last week. He questioned the appraised value for a development rights easement to more than 300 acres of agricultural property northeast of Naval Air Station Whiting Field at the commission’s Jan. 8 regular meeting.
