Susie Smith* has fallen on hard times this year. The single mother lost her job so any funds that come in go straight to putting food on the table and keeping a roof over the heads of her two children.
But Smith still wanted to provide an active and fun lifestyle for her children as much as she could and turned to the Pullum YMCA in Navarre for help. Smith could not afford the membership cost but received a scholarship that decreased the fees by 75 percent.
“It means a different lifestyle for me and my kids,” said Smith, a Navarre resident. “We’ll be spending more quality time together and I just know it’s going to make us all happier.”
