Headhunter finds bounty in Navarre

Ricky Lee Phelps, the former lead singer of Grammy-Award winning country band Kentucky Headhunters, said he’s kept a low profile since moving to Navarre in 2001.

“Well, until now,” he added as he pointed to the reporter’s notebook during the interview.

Phelps’ wife Karen was the one who brought him to Navarre after he grew tired in the Nashville scene.

“I was through with Nashville and the music business,” he said. “And when I saw Navarre, I thought ‘I can do this.’ I love it here.”
