Johnson leaves legacy of service

Mary Johnson will close out a 52-year career in the Santa Rosa County Clerk of Court office on Jan. 4 when Donny “Don” Spencer will be sworn in as the new clerk of court.

In 1960, Johnson took a job in the clerk’s office when she was senior in high school.

“I knew the clerk, he had been a teacher of mine,” said Johnson on how she got started. “I just asked (for a job) and he said that he could use a student.”
