Midway to seat new board

Three new Midway Fire District commissioners and an incumbent will take the oath of office at a special meeting Saturday.

Chairman Jacque Gorris at Tuesday’s regular meeting said he proposed seating the recently elected and re-elected commissioners at a special meeting “to keep things light” and give the new members an opportunity to mingle and meet residents without district business interfering.

Joe McPherson was re-elected without opposition to Seat 1 and Shellie Isakson was elected without opposition to the unexpired Seat 3 term vacated earlier this year by T.J. Emma. The commission appointed former Midway firefighter Reese Swartz to fill Emma’s seat until Isakson takes office.

Newcomers Bill Eaton and Dave Szymanski won three-way races for Seats 2 and 5, respectively.

The special meeting will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15.
