Proposed change for Florida Court rules

Florida voters will be asked on Nov. 6 if they want to alter the balance of power among the state judicial, legislative and executive branches.

If passed, proposed Amendment 5 on the Nov. 6 General Election ballot will change the way Florida Courts operate and give the state legislators greater control over the courts.

“Our democratic system is based on a careful balance of separation of powers,” said Deirdre Macnab, League of Women Voters of Florida president. “When we start to tip the balance to one (branch) like the legislature, that’s quite dangerous.”
