Workshop explains deserted vessel process

A derelict vessel is partially submerged in sound near Juana’s Pagodas on Navarre Beach.

An abandoned boat has been stationed in the Santa Rosa Sound near Juana’s Pagodas/Sailors’ Grill on Navarre Beach for about a year.

The vessel has nearly sunk many times as storms come through the area and has had to be drained of water to keep it afloat.

For those wanting information about the proper procedures for removing such vessels, join Lt. Darrin Riley, statewide derelict vessel coordinator, and Phil Horning, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission statewide derelict vessel planner, for a public workshop from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Santa Rosa County Extension Office in Milton.

For the complete story, see the Sept. 27 issue of Navarre Press or subscribe online.
