Governor signs death warrant

 Ferguson

Gov. Rick Scott signed John Errol Ferguson’s death warrant Sept. 5 and sent it to Warden John Palmer with the Florida State Prison.

Ferguson was convicted on eights counts of first degree murder, stemming from two separate incidents in 1977 and 1978. According to published reports, the murders occurred during a home invasion, and a rape-murder of a teenage couple in Miami-Dade County.

His victims were Henry Clayton, Randolph Holmes, Michael Miller, Charles Stinson, Livingston Stocker, Gilbert Williams, Brian Glenfedt and Belinda Worley.

Ferguson’s accomplices in the home invasion were Marvin Francis and Beauford White, both of whom were executed in the 1980s.

The first six victims were killed execution style during the home invasion; the last two victims were Hialeah teenagers that Ferguson abducted. He shot Gledfedt before raping and murdering Worley.

Ferguson’s appeals were unsuccessful as was his request for clemency.

Ferguson’s execution date has been set for 6p.m. Oct. 16, 2012 on Tuesday.
