UPDATED: Area businesses close for Isaac

 Many businesses are shutting the doors in anticipation of Tropical Storm Isaac, which is projected to make landfall Tuesday evening.

The Betty J. Pullum Family YMCA in Navarre will be closed Tuesday. The Y plans to open the facilities at noon on Wednesday, provided it is determined safe to do so. If schools are back in session on Wednesday, the Y will provide after-school programs at all branches and school sites as usual.

Baptist and Gulf Breeze hospitals remain fully operational for hospitalized patients and emergency department services. Elective and diagnostic services at Baptist and Gulf Breeze hospitals will be suspended from 10 a.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Wednesday. Such services include those for physician appointments, physical therapy, lab and imaging. In addition, Andrews Institute and Baptist Medical Parks on Nine Mile Road and in Navarre will be closed Tuesday with normal business hours resuming on Wednesday morning.

All Santa Rosa County Health Department locations have suspended client services,  except for those individuals with an immediate need. Health department staff will be opening an evacuation shelter for individuals with special needs at 3 p.m. today at the Milton Community Center, 5629 Byrom Street in Milton.

All Pen Air Federal Credit Union branches will be closed at noon Tuesday and are all scheduled to reopen Thursday for regular business hours. This is provided there is no damage caused by the storm.

Navarre Area Board of Realtors also shut its office doors at 11 a.m. today and will remain closed through Wednesday.

Destin Commons will close today at 6 p.m. and remain closed through Tuesday. The shopping center’s reopening will be determined following the storm.

Holley-Navarre Fire District cancelled its regular meeting that was scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight. The meeting was rescheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 4. Fire Station 45 behind McDonald’s will have sandbags available Monday afternoon. The limit is 25 bags per vehicle and residents should bring a shovel.
