Gulf Breeze mother arrested for child abuse

Gladys Bautista Shaw, 33, of Gulf Breeze was arrested June 29 for aggravated child abuse after a Department of Child and Family Services investigator reported that Shaw’s stepson was severely beaten.

The DFC investigator told a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputy that she responded to a College Parkway residence after receiving a report that a child appeared to be beaten up and severely bruised. The investigator made contact with the child’s father and Shaw, the stepmother of the child. According to the incident report, Shaw immediately denied touching the child and said she didn’t know where the bruises came from.
