Congress passes RESTORE Act

On June 29, Congress passed the RESTORE Act, which could mean billions of dollars for the Gulf Coast states impacted by the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The bill, co-sponsored by U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-FL, and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL, stands for Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourism Opportunities and Revived Economy of the Gulf Coast Act and aims to distribute BP fine money associated with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to the five states affected by the spill.
