Rummage Sell to raise funds

A rummage sell will be held to raise funds for the kidney transpalnt of a 13-year-old Navarre girl.

Gabriella Pelis was feeling tired after school and, after the last time of missing a day, her mom said she was going to the doctor.

“It’s all kind of spiraled out of control,” said Keree Pelis, Gabee’s mom. “We found out two weeks ago that she has chronic kidney disease and that she is in the last stages of kidney use.”

The family found out that Gabee would have a biopsy and was more than likely going to need a kidney transplant; the cost would be around $20,000.

Keree’s friend Heather Peacock researched ways to raise funds and is getting started immediately.

“We had planned it out to do fundraising over six months, but we may need to speed up the process depending on the biopsy.”Peacock will be putting on the rummage and bake sale that will bring 100 percent of funds collected to the cost of the surgery.

The sale will be Saturday, Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the community center in Navarre.

“The family is also in dire need of a car,” Peacock said. “They have to go back and forth to Birmingham and they don’t have the proper vehicle to do so.”

Funds can also be donated at Wachovia in a bank acount for Gabriella Pelis.
