When Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Davis of the United States Air Force arrived at the Sun Trust Bank branch in Navarre, it was not do banking.
Davis was there to surprise his daughter, Financial Services Representative Stephanie Davis, on the day he returned from a tour in Afghanistan.
Davis presented the branch with a flag from his combat mission in Afghanistan. The flag was flown in SunTrust’s name on an AC-130U Spooky Gunship, Tail # A0163, nicknamed “Bad Omen.”
The flag carries a date of Sept. 11, 2011, to mark the anniversary of the terrorist attacks 10 years ago which killed more than 3,000 Americans.
Davis gave the flag to SunTrust teammates to thank them for providing Solid Gives Back hours to send a care package to him while he was overseas.
Through the Solid Gives Back volunteer program, SunTrust teammates have donated more than 100,000 volunteer hours to community organizations, including “Solid Salutes Those That Serve” program in north Florida.
