Santa Rosa County Domestic Violence Council held its Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 21 to honor those law enforcement officers who have demonstrated their commitment to a professional response to domestic violence crime in Santa Rosa County.
The luncheon is held each year in order to recognize officers who have done an outstanding job of enforcing domestic violence statutes. The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office Court Security was honored as a group.
This year’s individual award winners were Lt. Jim Killingsworth, Deputy Lori Goodwin, Deputy Christina Reaves, Deputy Chris Vance, and Detective Billy Wheeler, all of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Stacy S. Sharp J.D., Assistant State Attorney for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit, delivered the keynote address to the crowd. Sharp helped change the law in Florida making strangulation a felony instead of a misdemeanor in cases of domestic violence.
