South Santa Rosa may get community center

Board of County Commissioner meetings may soon have a new venue.

That is if Santa Rosa County Commissioner Lane Lynchard can sell his idea of a south end community center to the other four commissioners.

During a Sept. 20 meeting of the United Peninsula Association (UPA), Lynchard unveiled his plans to build a 5,500-square-foot multi-purpose community center in Tiger Pointe. It would be used Tiger Pointe Sports Program and would have an outdoor covered play area and pavilion for family use.

According to Lynchard, holding the commissioner meetings in the south part of county would potentially increase the number of citizens that attend commissioners’ meetings.

The cost for building the community center would come from District 5 funds allocated for such purposes.
