Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners will consider providing $24,000 today to continue the county transportation program for a second year.
Nancy Model, county transportation planner, said she was requesting less of a match from the county for a second year because TPO found out it could get more than anticipated from a federal grant. The county contributed about $33,000 last year for the pilot program.
She said TPO could use state agency funding as matching funds for the federal grant and hire more bus drivers and purchase an additional bus. She said the program also could get more revenue by seeking additional advertising.
The number of riders increased from 580 to 632 in August.
