The Midway Fire Department felt the heat both literally and figuratively when they responded to four arson fires in the span of one evening on Aug. 8.
The arson-filled evening came on the heels of another suspected arson fire at Gulf Islands National Seashore the previous day.
Gulf Breeze Fire Department was called to the fire at the national seashore, and Midway and Holley-Navarre and Pensacola Beach fire departments all responded to assist, said Midway Fire Chief Jonathan Kanzigg.
The fire on Aug. 7 occurred at 3340 Gulf Breeze Parkway and was set in an area that secluded and not prone to foot traffic. The event was an unfortunate harbinger of things to come.
