Thursdays in the Park winding down

The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Thursdays in the Park Concert Series comes to a close this week, completing the fourth year of this successful community-wide event.

The season began on May 12, with local band Emerald Gold playing the kick-off event with a variety of classic rock and R&B music. All summer long, residents have been able to come together to enjoy family friendly concerts. All of the concerts were free to the public.

Cricket Anderson, chairwoman of the Thursday concert series committee, said that the 2011 series was a great success. Anderson is a member of the Chamber, which, along with the Navarre Press, hosted the series.

“I think the community has caught on that it is a free event,” said Anderson. “It’s something the community has bought into and enjoys. If it went away it would upset a lot of people.”
