With the first day of school looming on Aug. 22, the Santa Rosa County School Board met on July 21 to discuss the tentative budget and millage for the 2011-12 school year.
Susan McCole, the assistant superintendent for finance for the school district, presented the budget to the board and gave an overview of where the district stands in terms of funding.
McCole stressed that the document, which is 46 pages long, is just the first incarnation of what will be the final budget.
Federal and state grants have not yet been approved or funded, and the final budget cannot be approved without these figures, she told the board.
