Time to Cram the Van for school

Independence for the Blind interns prepare packages of school supplies for the Cram the Van school supply drive program. It’s time to stock up on school supplies to help others during the annual Cram the Van school supply drive.

The United Way of Santa Rosa County program provided school supplies to 2,400 children who needed them in the county last year and Marianne Back, community projects coordinator at United Way, said they hope to increase that number this year.

“Last year we served 2,400 children in Santa Rosa County and the United Way in Escambia County helped more than 6,000 children,” said Back. “This year we’re anticipating more than 3,000 Santa Rosa County children will be helped through Cram the Van.”

More than 100 of those children were in the Navarre area.

Tim Wyrosdick, Santa Rosa County school superintendent, said the program is designed to help those who can’t purchase school supplies.
