The 2011 sales-tax holiday is set for August and the Florida Department of Revenue has issued information for the rules and regulations of the holiday, Aug. 12 – 14:
- Items included in the exemption are clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $75 or less and certain school supplies selling for $15 or less.
- The exemption will still apply no matter how many of each exempt item is sold on the same invoice.
- The exemption does not apply to any clothing item selling for more than $75, nor does it apply to school supplies selling for more than $15.
- The exemption does not apply to clothing or school supplies sold within a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport.
- Eligible items sold during the holiday purchased with a gift card or a rain check will qualify for the exemption regardless of when the gift certificate was purchased; rain checks issued during the exemption will not qualify an eligible item for the exemption if the item is purchased after the exemption period.
- Manufacturer’s coupons cannot be used to reduce the selling price of an item to meet the exemption levels.
- Store coupons or discounts can be used to reduce the sales price of eligible items.
- Rentals of items do not qualify for the exemption.
