Gulf Breeze firefighter honored for service to community

Gulf Breeze firefighter Frances Spearing was honored during the June 29 meeting of the Gulf Breeze City Council.

Spearing is moving back to her home country of England, but will be sorely missed by the department, according to Chief Shane Carmichael.

“There was never a job that I gave her that she complained or grumbled about,” Carmichael told the city council members.

Spearing has served in the department since May 2005 and was promoted to lieutenant in September 2009. She served not only as a Gulf Breeze firefighter, but also as an EMT, registered nurse, midwife and as an advisor for the department’s Boy Scout Explorer Post.
