Champion paddleboarder Slater Trout will be in Gulf Breeze on the beach behind Coastal Paddle Company June 11 hosting paddleboard clinics.
The first clinic begins at 9 a.m. and will focus on stroke techniques and is $50 while the second clinic, beginning at 11 a.m., will concentrate on beginner stand up paddleboard skills and costs $35.
“The stroke technique clinic will focus on creating a more efficient race or surf stroke, reaching, proper entry and exit points, body position and lots more,” said Trout. “The beginner SUP clinic focuses on balance, positioning on the board, proper use of the paddle and board control.”
He said there are several challenging things facing a beginning stand-up paddleboarder, such as where to stand on the board, getting the board moving in the direction you want it to and balancing, but most people pick those skills up pretty quickly on calm water.
