Many tourists descend on the Emerald Coast each year, bringing families and friends to celebrate summer at the beaches.
Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be an economic boon to the area, with the area’s traditional semi-official Gay Pride weekend.

McCrary said that the weekend began more than 25 years ago with a gathering of gay men who would meet at the beaches and have fish boils, cookouts and socialize.
