The assembly began with a video of a man almost incomprehensibly apologizing between sobs to the families of the girls he killed through a drunk-driving accident.
Eric Smallridge was the man in the video who was uncontrollably crying during the trial that found him guilty of DUI manslaughter of Meagan Napier and Lisa Jo Dickson on May 11, 2002, two days before Mother’s Day. The video was shown during the March 23 assembly at Navarre High School by Meagan’s mom, Renee.
