Holley-Navarre Primary's sand replenished

A sand moving project at Holley-Navarre Primary turned into a "Wing-man" day for the 14th Weapons Squadron, Hurlburt Field.

"This project helped us address the four pillars mental, physical, spiritual, and social," said the project's coordinator at the 14th WPS. "The community gives our families support while we are deployed, and this is just a way that we can give back."

The kindergarten playground at the school was depleted of sand. The way the school is situated, it was impossible to get the sand back to the playground by truck. The sand truck had to dump the sand on the edge of the parking lot and the volunteers carried the sand back to the playground and raked it level.

"We are very appreciative that they gave up a Saturday morning of a three day weekend to help us," said Barbara Scott, assistant principal of the school. "The teachers and students will be thrilled when they come back to school on Tuesday. I'm especially happy to see that they brought their families."

Jack Sophie, 14-months-old, was poised to play in the newly laid sand. He is the son of a parent who has child at the school.
