Santa Rosa Sheriff’s office sponsors law enforcement academy

To  help  local  residents better understand how local law enforcement operates, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has developed a Citizens Law Enforcement Academy.

One of the purposes of this 12-week program is to help dispel the perception of policing often seen in television crime dramas. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office wants to educate the local citizenry as to the internal structure of law enforcement agencies and the integral part that community-oriented policing is playing in the county.

Begun in 2003, the academy is usually offered twice a year. The next academy session begins Jan. 27. Anyone in the county 18 years or older can attend.
