A Northwest Florida water utility director warned against “creeping federal imperialism” at a Navarre Patriots meeting in December.
“The executive branch is eating away at state sovereignty,” said Richard Griswold, general manager of the Destin Water Users Inc., a customer-owned private, nonprofit utility, of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency mandate requiring Florida to adopt and enforce tougher water quality standards. “I believe they’re attempting to create a one-state country.”
