Local filmmaker keeps production in Navarre

Navarre may be almost a continent away from Hollywood, but that doesn’t mean that the movie-making industry doesn’t have roots in the sandy shores of Santa Rosa Sound.

In fact, just a stone’s throw from the sound, Steve Baker operates his SB Video Productions business. A free-lance producer, with clients all over the country to work with cable news networks, television series, industrial filmmakers and movie companies. However, when he began filming his own movie, Baker chose to stay local.

Baker has hired area residents as cast and crew for his “Uncle Bob’s Leg,” which is described as “a dark comedy” loosely based on his own family history. The small cast includes two child actors from Fort Walton Beach, his Wynn Haven-based co-writer and a one-legged blues musician he met in the Fort Walton Beach Dollar Store.
