Equine rescue is making a difference

RavenFor Diane Lowery, there’s no such thing as a typical day.

One minute, she might be grooming a horse – the next minute she might be saving one.

On any given day, Lowery is part teacher, part horse lover, part advocate for an organization that serves to protect the animals Lowery has grown to love.  For her, it’s just another day at the office.

Lowery is president of the Panhandle Equine Rescue program, an organization dedicated to the care and keeping of horses – and any number of so-called equine animals, be it a donkey or zebra, or anything in between.

“We’ve seen it all,”  laughed Lowery.   “We really have.”

Lowery is one of two active investigators for PER.  Together, they serve a large geographical area, mostly in Escambia County.
