Small fire causes flooding at NHS

Had it not been for a Santa Rosa County Sheriff's deputy keen eye, a sprinkler in the break room of Navarre High School may still have been pouring water when employees showed up for work Friday.

Around midnight July 16, a deputy was returning to the District 2 office when he noticed the fire alarm activated at the high school, said Ron Norton, Holley-Navarre fire chief. Following a brief investigation, the deputy alerted firefighters, who were on scene within minutes. Holley-Navarre, Navarre Beach, Midway and Florosa fire departments responded.
