Larry the Cable Guy to perform at golf event

Country comedian Larry the Cable Guy will perform July 24 at The Country Club of Brewton in Brewton, Ala., at a charity fundraiser hosted by professional golfer Boo Weekley of Milton. Only 150 tickets are available and go on sale today for $75 each, which includes dinner and drinks.

The party is in conjunction with the Camp Compass Golf Scramble, a two-day, two-man-team tournament Weekley started in 2002. Over the past three years, the tournament has raised more than $250,000 for charities including Camp Compass, which gives inner-city children an opportunity to learn outdoors skills. No playing spots are available for the 2010 tournament, but the public is invited to attend a free live auction at 7 p.m. Friday, July 23. Items to be auctioned include hunting trips with Weekley, golfing vacations, World Series tickets, golf clubs and passes to PGA Tour events.

Larry the Cable Guy is known for wearing sleeveless flannel shirts, popularizing the slogan "Git-R-Done" and offering simple, sometimes less-than-sophisticated observations from a rural perspective. Hank Williams Jr.'s Bama Band will provide musical entertainment at the Saturday party.

Tickets are available at Broxson Outdoors, 2209 State Road 87 in Navarre, The Local Yokel, 5190 Ward Basin Road in Milton and Mike's Outdoor Sports, 8643 Pensacola Boulevard (U.S. Highway 29) in Pensacola. For more information, email
