HNFD agrees to hire a part-time fire inspector

After nine months of debate, Holley-Navarre Fire Commissioners are one step closer to addressing their soon-to-be new responsibility of conducting fire safety inspections for the district.

During their monthly meeting June 28, commissioners voted to approve a plan suggested by Fire Chief Ron Norton several months ago that calls for the district to hire a part-time employee to conduct prevention inspections. The position would be paid $10 to $12 an hour for up to 24 hours a week.

This would enable the district to cut-out the added costs of benefits by hiring a part-time employee.
