Holley wastewater plant contract approved

A new wastewater treatment plant could be serving residents north of East Bay River by next spring, Holley-Navarre Wastewater System General Manager Ken Walker said last week.

"They have 300 days from June 7, when the contract was signed," Walker said June 16.

"They" is Vision Construction Inc. of Pensacola, low bidder to build the 250,000-gallon-a-day Holley Wastewater Reclamation Facility on a 40-acre parcel the water system owns on Gordon Evans Road in Holley.

Phil Phillips of Fabre Engineering, project engineer for the treatment plant, told the customer-owned water system's board of directors at its June 15 meeting that Vision had agreed to complete the project for $1,030,000. That's less than a third of the $3.7 million low bid submitted by W.D. Rogers' Construction Services LLC of Theodore, Ala., last year.
