Attention Parents: Avoid that familiar complaint from your children this summer, “I’m bored!” Summer is the perfect time for children to “set sail for the library” and “dive into a great book.” Participants in the 2010 Summer Reading Program will explore the world of water and water fun through stories, songs, games and other activities about oceans, rivers, lakes, and pools and the creatures that live there.
Stop in at your local library and pick up a flyer of summer events and a reading calendar. On June 6, start reading at least 15 minutes each day for great prizes! All activities are free and open to the public. Online registration is now open at www.santarosa.fl.gov/libraries.
Splash into our programs from June 14 – July 23 at 11 a.m. for 3-5 year olds (who are able to attend without a caregiver) and at 1 p.m. for those who have completed K-5th grades: Mondays at Jay Library, Tuesdays at Navarre Library, Wednesdays at Milton Library, Thursdays at Gulf Breeze Library, and Fridays at Pace Library. Program details can be found at the Children's Events Calendar.
The Santa Rosa County Library System’s Summer Library Program is sponsored by local Friends of the Library groups; Oops Alley; Ridge Cinema 8; and the Naval Aviation Museum IMAX Theater. If your business is interested in providing prizes for this program, please contact Margaret Chatraw, Youth Services Coordinator at (850) 623-2043.
