A Mary Esther man was taken by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital following serious injuries sustained in a three-car accident Jan. 15.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, Steven L. Calhoun, 45, of Mary Esther, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 98 west of Paloma Street around 7 p.m.
Two cars traveling in front of Calhoun - driven by Nga Ha, 62, of Navarre, and Bradley T. Jordan, 25, of Navarre – applied their breaks for stopped traffic due to a previous crash.
Calhoun failed to stop his car, striking Ha in the rear, pushing his car into Jordan’s. Ha was taken to Fort Walton Beach hospital for serious injuries.
Jordan and his passenger, Stefanie D. Travers, 29, of Navarre, were not injured in the crash.
Calhoun was charged with careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
