A man claiming to represent Publishers Clearinghouse called a woman Friday and asked her for funds "to insure" prize money the man said the woman had won from the company. The man asked the woman to meet him at Walmart in Navarre to make the payment.

The woman became suspicious when the man didn't know her name or that she lives in Hawaii and was visiting her sister. At least one of several phone numbers the man gave the woman as contact information was an international number.

Residents should not give any personal information to anyone over the telephone; reputable businesses conduct business by mail or in person. Report any suspicious calls to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, 850-983-1100.
