Pier opening scheduled for Saturday, June 5

Read more...           The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners, Ed Waters and Sons Contracting Company and PBS&J will host a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 to open the long awaited new Navarre Beach Pier. The public is invited to attend the event in front of the pier located at 8579 Gulf Boulevard. At 1,545 feet, the pier is the longest in the State of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

UWF biology professor educates commissioners on the science of oil spill

Dr. Dick A. Snyder, director of the University of West Florida Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation in the biology department, addressed the Santa Rosa County commissioners at their regular meeting on May 27, trying to dispel rumors and to scientifically evaluate the oil-spill situation, as it relates to Navarre Beach and the adjoining Florida coast.
